Shabir was born in Kashmir in the nearby village of Tangmarg and has spent his entire life skiing at Gulmarg. He has been an integral part in the development of the ski tourism industry at Gulmarg. He has been guiding skiers to Kashmir powder for over 20 years and is familiar with every inch of both in and out-of-bounds territory. He has led numerous multiple day ski touring expeditions to nearby Sunshine Peak and is able to coordinate groups of all different sizes and skill levels. He is certified in avalanche safety, and with his intimate knowledge of the terrain and Gulmarg weather patterns and how they are connected, will be able to introduce your group to challenging terrain while keeping safety a priority. Like everyone with us who will be helping you get the most out of Gulmarg and Kashmir, Irshad was born and raised near the mountain. An avid snowboarder, he has taken many ski groups of all levels everywhere on the mountain for nearly 15 years! He will be able to bring you from the peak of Apharwat all the way down to the village of Drang where he lives when he is not staying at the resort! Or if you prefer, Irshad can also lead an expedition to Sharkfin and FrozenLake, two famous Kashmir ski destinations, testing your vertical (ascent/descent) endurance.
